Memphis recording artist Key Glock was arrested on felony gun and drug charges in Atlanta on March 28 and shared the detainment on Instagram Live.
The Atlanta Police Department confirmed the rapper’s arrest, real name Markeyvius Cathey, and issued the following statement:
“Cathey was arrested on March 28th during a traffic stop at the location of 1960 Piedmont Rd NE regarding an out of jurisdiction arrest warrant and possession of marijuana,” the statement reads. “The report detailing the arrest is still in the process of completion at this time.”
Mostly recorded in the back of the police car, the officer investigated the rapper’s vehicle where he discovered a firearm and two open warrants while ticketing him on weed possesion. “Just ‘cause of the smell of weed,” the cop said. “There was a little bit of weed in the car in the little bag from wings. But that’s just a ticket. Just a little like 3.5 [grams].”
The cause of Key Glock’s traffic was due to the dark tint on the artist’s vehicle. Atlanta PD informed the rapper that the open warrant was within a 50 mile radius of traffic stop, which allowed him to be arrested. “It says they’ll pick you up within 50 miles of Sandy Springs,” the cop said. “And we’re within 50 miles. So, they’ll probably want you, man.”
There has been no response to the arrest from Key Glock’s team.
