In 2020, Kid Cudi and Travis Scott announced they were working on a joint album as The Scotts.

In 2022, Kid Cudi told Billboard the collaboration album wouldn’t happen after all. Cudi confirmed it on Sunday (August 25) after a fan asked. Relishing in the past, the X user tweets, “When are we getting the Scotts album Cudi.”

“That ship came and went my friend,” replied Cudi. “Let’s move on.  So much more to see and hear.”

Travis Scott has always recognized Kid Cudi as a mentor and idol throughout his career. Cudi has often praised La Flame’s unique style of music, which he appears to have influenced. There has never been any public disclosure of issues between the two.

Travis Scott hasn’t responded to Cudi’s comments or information on their joint album since it’s announcement in 2020. At the moment, he is on the Circus Maximus tour and just released Days Before Rodeo, his classic mixtape celebrating 10 years.

Even though The Scotts album never materialized, Kid Cudi and Travis Scott have collaborated on several tracks recently. In 2023, Kid Cudi appeared on Travis Scott’s Utiopia album and the Pharrell Williams-featured single, “At The Party.”

Sidelined for months after breaking his ankle at Coachella, Cudi has been focused on returning to the stage and releasing his latest album. He canceled his anticipated tour after the injury but performed for the first time last week at a Esports World Cup in Riyadh.

During a fan Q&A on Sunday, Cudi provided an update on his album, tweeting, “I pushed things back a bit … So the plan is, 1st single on my birthday and the album in the summer. I rarely drop summer albums, and this next one is all summer vibes so be ready.”
