Latto is taking a stand for her fans after Waffle House allegedly fired employee Yadira Ramirez for participating in her ‘Brokey’ challenge. The rapper quickly opened her own establishment in support of Yadira, who went viral for claiming she was let go after filming a challenge video at the restaurant.

On September 15th, Latto launched the ‘Brokey’ challenge, encouraging fans to create videos for her song from her latest album, Sugar Honey Iced Tea. This initiative was Latto’s response to criticism about her lyrics, which flaunt financial privileges. She expressed her intentions on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “I hate that y’all think I was calling hard workers brokeys. So I got $10k for whoever make the best video at they job to brokey & I’ll fly u out to be in the music video…no mo waiting til ur bday to go outta town. Tag me & hashtag #Brokey so I can see them all.”

Just days later, Yadira shared a creative 27-second video showcasing herself and four other Waffle House employees participating in the challenge. The video went viral, amassing over 23.4 million views, 3.7 million likes, and nearly 19,000 comments. Yadira’s moment in the spotlight came at the 16-second mark when she lip-synced the lyrics, “Yeah, I talk a lot of sh*t. He like who you think you is…”

However, two days after her TikTok post, Yadira revealed that Waffle House had fired her “a day” after the challenge went viral, putting her on a “no-rehire” list. She explained, “A day after posting one video that literally harms nobody.” In a follow-up video, she confirmed she was the only employee terminated despite two managers being present during filming.

Latto quickly came to Yadira’s aid. On September 24th, the two met in the studio. They danced to “Brokey.” Latto also gifted her cash to celebrate the unexpected partnership.
