In the conversation, she reflected on how their relationship began, recalling the moment they connected. “I do remember how we met,” Lauren shared. At the time, she was working on a set where Nipsey’s Crenshaw mixtape was making waves. Wanting to gift her co-workers some Crenshaw merchandise, she reached out to a friend for help. “I was like, ‘It would be really cool if I, like, got them his mixtape and all the Crenshaw stuff.’”
Despite her efforts to secure a discount, Lauren never heard directly from Nipsey after meeting him. Instead, his manager responded. “I didn’t get the discount, either,” she joked. After purchasing the items and gifting them, Lauren followed Nipsey on social media, where their interaction took a more personal turn.
“He DM’d me, like, ‘Hey, thank you. Thanks for the support, appreciate you, send me your sizes so I can send you a personal box.’” Their conversation quickly moved off social media when Nipsey gave her his number. “I text him, because I was like, I don’t do DMs. Yeah, I thought he was fine.”
Lauren also revealed that she had been attracted to Nipsey for some time before meeting him and had mutual friends who believed they’d be a great match. “Years before that… but, you know, I was just on my, like, single mom stuff.”
