Lauryn Hill performed a reunion show over the weekend, but fans were disappointed and expressed their outrage. Video of the entertainer performing a mini concert at her high school reunion surfaced on Monday (August 26).
The Fugees reunion tour was canceled by Hill last month, resulting in negative social media comments. Here are fans’ comments on Hill’s high school reunion performance.
“She showed up a year late and sang to the wrong reunion,” commented a user on X.
Another user wrote, “Lauryn Hill is the ultimate villain [Face with tears of joy emoji] she will pay for all the late and canceled shows.”
The Fugees reunion tour was canceled mere days before beginning. On August 7, Hill shared the following statement on Instagram regarding the reunion’s cancelation:
“With difficulty the decision was made to pull down our upcoming North American tour dates,” she wrote. “The shows in the UK and Europe ARE MOVING FORWARD as planned. Last year, I faced an injury that necessitated the rescheduling of some of my shows. Regrettably, some media outlet’s penchant for sensationalism and clickbait headlines have seemingly created a narrative that has affected ticket sales for the North American portion of the tour.”
Fellow Fugees member Pras released a diss track towards Lauryn Hill earlier this month. In the track, Pras raps, “Don’t blame me, blame her/She made the mess/Not another f#####’ penny, what I told ‘Clef.”
With diss track, Pras sympathized with fans’ disappointment in Lauryn as he told the press, “They are paying their hard-earned money to see you. We’re going on almost three decades of our existence, individually and as a group. To have people still interested in wanting to come see you, man, you have to be grateful”.
The rescheduling of The Fugees reunion tour has yet to be announced.
