LeBron and Bronny James make NBA history as the first father/son duo to play in the same game.
History was made on Tuesday, during the Los Angeles Lakers’ season opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Following the game, LeBron shares a heartfelt sentiment about the moment. “It’s always been family over everything. For me, I lost a lot of time because of this league and committing to this league. Being on the road at times, missing a lot of his things, Bryce’s things, Zhuri’s things, so to be able to have this moment where I’m working still and I can work alongside my son, it’s one of the greatest gifts I’ve ever gotten from the man above and I’m going to take full advantage of it.”
Bronny says, “I’m just extremely grateful for everything. I was given an amazing opportunity to come in this league and get better every day and learn every day.”
LeBron speaks on working relationship w/ Bronny:
James previously opened up about his working relationship with Bronny.
During an interview on Uninterrupted’s “The Shop” podcast, Bron says the father/son dynamic is out the window while on the court.
“No, he can’t; we already laid that down,” James said. “Once we leave, out of the practice facility, and the gates close, I could be ‘Dad’ again, in the car if we ride together. At home, I could be ‘Dad.’ No, he gotta call me ‘2-3’ or ‘Bron,’ or ‘GOAT’ [greatest of all time] if he wants to. It’s up to him. I mean, it’s up to him.”
The Lakers star added, “Once we leave out the private facility and the gates close, I could be dad again, in the car if we ride together, at home I could be dad.”
“We cannot be running down the court, and he’d be like, ‘Dad, push the ball up! Dad, I’m open! Dad, come on!’” LeBron said in the clip.
