Lil Uzi Vert admitted that he never liked the final version of Eternal Atake because it was leaked to the public.
During an interview with Complex, the “Just Wanna Rock” rapper explained what happened to the project.
“I didn’t have the team I have today and everything got leaked and everyone had it already,” Uzi said. “I was like, ‘No, I can do it all over again and I actually did do good all over again.”
Lil Uzi Vert also said that the project suffered because it was released during the pandemic in 2020.
“When I finally dropped, it fell into the COVID era,” they said.
Despite the challenges that the album encountered, Lil Uzi Vert is still proud of Eternal Atake because there was some “good stuff” on the project. They are still thinking about the potential of the album if everything would have fallen into place.
“Eternal Atake was perfect. If I knew back then what I know now, I would’ve just put the whole leaked album out anyway instead of canceling it,” Uzi stated. “Should have just put that whole album out and worked on my album.”
“I knew there was going to be a sequel just from that point on,” they added.
After dropping Eternal Atake 2, Uzi said they will be releasing music on a more consistent basis.
“Yeah. I’m on go. I’m not even lying,” they said. “They thought I was lying a few minutes ago. Now the tape is coming, everybody’s like, ‘You weren’t lying.”
Eternal Atake 2 is a 16-track offering “that finds Uzi returning to the intergalactic explorations” according to Billboard. Tracks like “Lo Mein” and “Baby Pluto” will have Uzi’s loyal fanbase buzzing.
Production on the project was handled by Cashmere Cat, WondaGurl, McVertt, Lil 88, Henney Major, and Charlie Puth.
