Since The Carter 3, the latest installments in Lil Wayne’s album series have been highly anticipated. On Wednesday (August 4), the 41-year-old legend confirmed that The Carter 6 was finished. He made the confirmation in a Instagram post.
“I’m working on Tha Carter VI. I just wanted you to know that,” said Weezy in front of a production board. “Honestly, I’m finished. I was lying. We’re working on Tha Carter 26.”
Outside of the sixth installment, Lil Wayne shared with followers that he was working on features. In recent weeks, Weezy has been on another lyrical tirade, appearing on new music by Cordae, Yella Beezy, Ye, Lil Yachty, DJ Premier, Flau’Jae, and Rob49.
“Just finished working on a couple of features,” He says in the video clip. “I would tell y’all who it is, but you know I wouldn’t do that and f**k it up. Shout out to those artists and my family. If you’re not up, you’re down. And if you’re down, I’m here to pick you up.”
In addition to Lil Wayne’s album update, Lil Weezyana Fest, an annual festival that includes an official reunion of The Hot Boys, was announced recently. “Lil’ Weezyana Fest is BACK baby! [fire emjoi]. Meet me for A Hot Boyz Reunion in New Orleans 11/2 at Smoothie King Center! Pre-sale starts at 12PM CT on LILWEEZYANAFEST.COM,” captioned Weezy in a Instagram post with promotional flyer.
In 2023, Lil Wayne released Tha Fix Before Tha VI (Bonus), an 11-track project featuring collaborations with the late DMX, Jon Batiste, euro, Cool & Dre, and Fousheé. The mixtape features both high-energy anthems and introspective cuts, continuing the rapper’s legacy.
This project followed 2018’s Tha Carter V, which included hits like “Mona Lisa” featuring Kendrick Lamar and “Don’t Cry” with XXXTENTACION.
