LL Cool J hopped on Instagram to let his fans know the wait is over: he’s back. The “Momma Say Knock You Out” rapper is releasing his first album in nearly a decade. His last project was 2013’s Authentic. Now he’s ready with new music with his “Saturday Night Special,” track. The song is set to be released on June 14 and will be included in the album set to be released later this year. “Album’s coming in the fall. It’s the real deal, baby. It’s go time. I’ll let you know about the features in a couple of days. Tracklisting for the album is coming,” the rapper said in an Instagram video.

In other news, last month, LL Cool J stopped by LeBron James’ The Shop, alongside fellow guest Lena Waithe. The experienced statesman reflected on his nearly four-decade career, from all the triumphs to the tragedies. His last project 2013’s Authentic, only sold 14,000 units in his first week and landed at No.23 on the Billboard 200. But that didn’t deter him, in his opinion, while he’s had some misses over the years, he’s had some big wins too. (Like when he was inducted into the Rock N’ Roll Hall Fame in 2021).

“I make bad albums, but I also have some smack, some crazy shit too,” he told The Shop crew. “But I made bad sh*t, or shit that people didn’t respond to because that was where I was at.” Additionally, he admitted to having doubts about the quality of his work over the years. “I’m a little bit of a weirdo,” he says. LL added, “Sometimes I make records in a vacuum just because it’s for me and then sometimes I make albums for the culture. I’m very different in that regard, so you can’t really gauge my albums like that ’cause I don’t make all my records for the culture.”
