Ludacris has called out Soulja Boy’s bold claim that he was the first rapper to ever fly an airplane. Over the weekend, Soulja posted a video on Instagram where he filmed himself in the cockpit of a jet, preparing for takeoff. With excitement, Soulja proudly announced: “I was the first rapper to fly an airplane. Let’s go!”

However, Ludacris quickly challenged the claim with a simple raised eyebrow emoji in the comments. Fans of Ludacris also jumped in to correct Soulja Boy, pointing out that the Fast & Furious star had already beaten him to the feat.

Back in 2021, Ludacris shared a video of himself in the cockpit, seemingly at the controls of a plane, leading many to believe he had earned his pilot’s license. He later clarified the situation during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, jokingly saying: “I’m just as surprised as everyone else.” Luda explained that while the internet assumed he was a licensed pilot, he never made that claim.

In reality, Ludacris revealed that he was in the process of working toward his license. “That’s something that’s called a ‘nickel ride’… it’s my first time actually flying,” he explained, adding that while he owns a plane, he hadn’t pursued his license earlier due to the no-alcohol rule before flying.

Although few rappers can actually fly planes, many, including Rick Ross and Drake, own custom private jets. Drake’s jet alone is reportedly worth $185 million and can carry 30 people.
