Mariah The Scientist, Young Thug‘s girlfriend and recording artist, shared a joyful statement with Atlanta news reporter Michael Seinden on Thursday evening (Oct. 31) after Thug was allowed to go home after pleading guilty.

Young Thug pleaded guilty to multiple charges in a non-negotiated plea deal that included 15 years of probation and other restrictions. Upon accepting the sentence, the rap star issued an apology to the court.

As one of the most reliable sources during the 700-day trial, Seinden provided extensive on-air and social media coverage for WBS-TV. Following the judge’s ruling, he reached out to Mariah for a statement and shared the following exclusive via text:

“Thank you God, thank you God. This is more than what we prayed for. We are so grateful, this is the greatest opportunity we’ve ever been presented with and we are so grateful. Thank you Judge Paige Whitaker for giving us the opportunity to move forward with our life! Thank you God. Thank you Brian Steel and Keith Adams and every attorney working on this case, tireless. THANK YOU! I cannot say it enough, I cannot repay you for this. You have changed our lives, Jeffery’s life and mine. Thank you to everyone who has been there for us, every fan, who believed in us and prayed for us. “

In addition to Michael Seiden’s shared statement, Mariah live-streamed herself running around after announcing the sentence. Mariah and Thug celebrated their anniversary earlier this month, and Thug wore an “I [heart] Mariah” sweater during court this week.

During the trial, Mariah and Thug released new albums that included new collaborations, “Ride” and “Walked In.” Mariah was present for most of Thug’s trial dates after his arrest in 2022. During the trial, the couple made headlines several times, including a viral jail phone call.

The couple began dating in 2021. Mariah has expressed her unwavering love for Thug in multiple interviews. According to court documents, Young Thug, real name Jeffrey Williams, was released from Fulton County jail on Thursday evening.
