It was announced on Friday (July 12) that Captain America will return in February after the teaser trailer for the new movie with Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford premiered on Friday (July 12).
“Captain America: Brave New World,” the fourth film in the MCU franchise, has the new Captain America, played by Mackie, going on a covert mission to uncover a plot against the new President Thunderbolt Ross, played by Ford. The trailer shows Captain America in action, quickly thwarting an assassination attempt at the White House. The fast-paced clip concludes with a glimpse of the new character Red Hulk, who may be connected to Thunderbolt Ross.
Mackie replaced original Captian America actor Chris Evans in 2019 in Avengers: Endgame. The 8 Mile actor took over the mantle in the Marvel television series Falcon and the Winter Solider. The new film picks up where the series left off and will include Cap’s new sidekick who will take over the mantle of Falcon.
The upcoming film features a star-studded cast including Danny Ramirez, Shira Haas, Xosha Roquemore, Carl Lumbly, Giancarlo Esposito, Liv Tyler, and Tim Blake Nelson. Directed by Julius Onah and produced by Kevin Feige and Nate Moore, with Louis D’Esposito and Charles Newirth as executive producers, the film promises to be a thrilling addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Mackie has been a part of the franchise since the original film as Falcon, Cap’s sidekick and best friend. Outside of the franchise, Mackie would also appear in the third and fourth Avengers films.
On social media, Marvel would also reveal the film’s poster and teaser. The poster shows the Red Hulk palming Cap’s shield. Captain America: Brave New World hits theaters worldwide on February 14, 2025.
