Mary J. Blige couldn’t contain her excitement about reuniting with longtime friend and collaborator Fabolous, all while teasing details about her upcoming album.

Eight years after filing for divorce, the Queen of Hip Hop and Soul is celebrating her journey with her empowering new single, “Breathing,” where she reunites with Fabolous.

Speaking with People, the 53-year-old shares that “The story behind the track is what I’m doing finally, which is living, breathing, enjoying my life and celebrating the happiness and freedom I have that life brings.”

She continued: “That’s why it’s called “Breathing.” I finally get to exhale and inhale and then exhale and enjoy life, enjoy love.”

If you’re a fan of the single, Mary reveals that the album, “out soon,” will revolve around “enjoying life and understanding that, again, life is what inspires me, whether I take the good with the bad.

“I look at every lesson as a blessing and I understand that I’m not the only one on the earth going through things. I celebrate my triumph, and I work through my hard times. So, the album is going to be fun in that perspective. There’ll be things that are real and serious, but you’ll be able to dance to it or sing to it. There’s a bunch of different things — ballads, world music. There’s some good s— on here.”

Later, discussing her exciting induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame she added: “I feel amazing. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, that’s a whole other level. That’s my peers on another level recognizing my legacy and all the work that I’ve put in. So I’m beyond grateful and very happy to have been inducted. I mean, I was blown away.”

In April, Mary joined a star-studded lineup of music legends—including Cher, Dave Matthews Band, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Kool & the Gang, Ozzy Osbourne, and A Tribe Called Quest—earning the coveted honor that proves they’ve still got it.
