The murder investigation of Jacksonville-based rap artist Julio Foolio continues as a video of a masked man has started circulating social media with the individual confessing to the murder, claiming a $10,000 bounty offered by Yungeen Ace.
It was Julio Foolio’s 26th birthday when he was shot to death in a hotel parking lot in Tampa, Florida. Fans suspect the shooting is part of a decade-long feud with fellow Jacksonville rap star Yungeen Ace.
On July 4, a video surfaced online showing a man from Jacksonville confessing to the murder. The man, who partially covered his face with a ski mask and wore an orange beanie, captioned the video, “I bagged Foolio for 10k.”
“I’m the one who smacked Julio Foolio that night when he got dropped at his birthday celebration,” he began. “I didn’t show my face or give my identity away, but I did that.” He went on to allege that Foolio’s longtime rival, Yungeen Ace, had offered $10,000 for the killing.
“There was money on his head. I rock with Ace and them boys, ATK, I be in Jacksonville heavy. If you know, you know,” he added. “I handled that because Ace put that 10k up, told me to slide. Told me to smack Foolio because he got tired of him running his mouth.”
The man stated he did it for the money and expressed no remorse, saying Foolio “had it coming to him.” He also denied that the killing was gang-related, insisting, “Ace put that bread up and whoever wanted to take it, took it, so I took that. Rest in peace, Foolio.”
Police are investigating the circumstances but have not yet identified any suspects. In a press conference, Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw promised arrests soon.
Meanwhile, activity has continued on Foolio’s Instagram account, despite his death. On July 3, the account posted a video with messages stating, “You can NEVER KILL A DEMI GOD,” and “the WORLD will be shocked VERY SOON,” following recent exchanges with Yungeen Ace’s page.
