Master P has made a public call for the NFL to include Lil Wayne in the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime show.

While the league recently confirmed Kendrick Lamar as the headliner for the upcoming show at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, many fans were left wondering why New Orleans’ own Lil Wayne wasn’t chosen.

Master P, a fellow New Orleans rap legend and the newly appointed Entertainment Ambassador, took to Instagram to voice his support for Lil Wayne’s inclusion. Though he congratulated Kendrick Lamar, calling him “one of the hottest music artists in the world,” Master P also tagged Jay-Z, the NFL’s music strategist, in his post, advocating for Wayne’s involvement in the big event.

“I have to agree with the fans—Lil Wayne should be a part of this celebration,” Master P wrote. “He’s one of the greatest hip-hop artists alive, still relevant, and he’s a New Orleans native. Let’s not miss this cultural moment in the South. Life is too short. We have to give our legends their flowers while they’re here.”

The choice of Kendrick Lamar, while celebrated by many, has sparked debate, especially given his prior appearance during the 2022 Halftime show alongside Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, and 50 Cent.

In a statement following Lamar’s selection, Jay-Z praised the rapper’s impact: “Kendrick Lamar is truly a once-in-a-generation artist. His deep love for hip-hop and culture informs his artistic vision. He has an unparalleled ability to influence culture globally. Kendrick’s work transcends music, and his impact will be felt for years to come.”

This has been a significant year for Lamar, not only for his upcoming Super Bowl appearance but also for the ongoing headlines surrounding his feud with Drake.

In May, Lamar released “Not Like Us,” his fourth diss track aimed at the Canadian rapper, with lyrics like, “Say Drake, I hear you like ’em young / You better not ever go to cell block one.”

The song quickly topped the Billboard Hot 100 and set a new record for most streams of a rap song in one day on Spotify, also earning a spot as one of TikTok’s Songs of the Summer.

As the debate continues over who should headline the 2025 Super Bowl, fans are left wondering if Lil Wayne, a towering figure in New Orleans’ hip-hop scene, will get his moment on one of the biggest stages in the world.
