Max B and Young Thug recently connected, with the Coke Wave rapper mapping out his future after prison.

Charley Wingate, aka Max B, will walk free on November 9, and Thug is integral to his plans ahead. In a brief exchange from a prison call, Max B tells Thug, “Man, I’m in here grinding this shit out… Hell yeah, we ’bout to hit the home stretch, baby.” He then hinted at a potential collaboration, stating, “Wassup? We gon’ make some history?”

Max B’s Prison Call Sparks Questions on Timing and Future Plans

The phone call’s timing is unclear. Max B posted it Monday, January 27, on Instagram Stories. Thug doesn’t seem to be using a jail phone, suggesting the recording occurred after Halloween 2023, when the YSL rapper was released in the RICO case.

Nearly a year before his release, Max called into Joe Budden‘s podcast to share his upcoming plans. He voiced, “Listen, I’m not going to put myself in a box.” “I can’t wait to get in the studio. There’s a lot of artists out there, too many to name. I’m looking forward to working with the big names, the head honchos.” Max continued, “I’m not going to put myself in a box. I’m open for all that but they gotta be A-list. I’m fucking with A-list. If this shit ain’t A-list, I can’t fuck with it.”

The 46-year-old is behind bars, facing charges for allegedly masterminding a robbery alongside his stepbrother, Kelvin Leerdam, and former girlfriend, Gina Conway, at a New Jersey Holiday Inn in September 2006. The attempt turned deadly when one of the victims was fatally shot.

In 2016, the convictions were overturned, and Max entered a guilty plea for aggravated manslaughter. This resulted in his 75-year sentence being slashed to just 20 years, followed by another reduction that trimmed his sentence to 12 years. During his prison stint, Max was often visited by his longtime friend and collaborator, French Montana. The rapper also used these trips as opportunities to charm the female guards.
