Sources close to Harlem rapper Max B reveal that a selection of his legendary mixtapes is expected to arrive on streaming platforms ahead of his anticipated prison release next year. The news follows a recent visit from fellow artist Tru Life and Max’s manager, William Cosgrove, who reportedly discussed the upcoming rollout.

The rapper’s long-awaited mixtapes are reportedly slated for a December release, marking their long-overdue debut on major streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music. Despite the library of Legend compilations offering a glimpse into his catalog, the original projects have never been individually accessible—making this a milestone for fans of the Wave God. Now 46, Max appears to be nearing freedom after serving over a decade of his 20-year sentence.

Convicted in 2009 for his role in a fatal robbery plot with his stepbrother and ex-girlfriend at a New Jersey Holiday Inn, his release would signal a fresh chapter for the Harlem native’s storied career. In 2016, Max’s original convictions were overturned, prompting a guilty plea to aggravated manslaughter that slashed his 75-year sentence to 20 years. Subsequent reductions later trimmed his prison term further, with his release now set for November 2025.

Max B stays connected with fans, anticipated freedom

Even though Max has been serving jail time, he’s managed to keep a strong presence on social media, assuring fans of his anticipation for freedom.

In a video shared publicly, he remarked, “Y’all know what it is. Shout out to the boy. The birthday boy just checking in. You already know. Man, I’m feeling good.” “It’s almost over. Two more joints, n-gga, I’m sliding out. Max Bigavell. 45, I feel good, look good. I taste good, I smell good, n-gga.” Additionally, his long-time collaborator, French Montana, had earlier suggested Max B would be released by April 2024, a timeline that has clearly come and gone.
