Meek Mill was NOT too happy after visiting the Cosmopolitan.
In a series of online Tweets, the Philly rapper claims he wasn’t allowed in for any valid reason.
He claims he was told that he was trespassing and that if he got on the premises, he could get arrested. The rapper was at the hotel to see a DJ Mustard show and was highly upset when he learned that he wasn’t allowed in. He was questioning why would he be arrested/locked up if he entered.
The man in the video wasn’t able to provide a valid reason as to why the “What’s Free” rapper couldn’t get in. The man in the video from the hotel said they have a right to refuse business to anyone.
Meek went on Twitter to express his frustrations. He called the hotel out and said that their actions make them seem racists toward African-American entertainers. He also said they’ve done this in the past.
Reported on TMZ, Meek got his lawyer Joe Tacopina involved and in a statement he wrote,
“we have learned that the Cosmopolitan maintains a list of African American recording artists who should be denied access for no other reason than than their culture and skin color. Such course of conduct constitutes discrimination per se, in violation of state and federal law, and exposes you to significant monetary damages.”
The article also says that Tacopina is also requesting that the hotel apologizes to his client. They plan to pursue legal action if necessary.
One thing is for certain, Meek won’t have ANY issues getting on to our Hot 97 Summer Jam stage, it’s all LOVE over here! Get tickets now.
