Megan Thee Stallion has spoken out for the first time about the ongoing tensions with Nicki Minaj. The feud between the two rappers has been simmering for some time, especially after Nicki made pointed remarks about Megan’s shooting incident involving Tory Lanez. However, the situation escalated this year when Megan dropped her track “Hiss,” in which she raps, “These hoes don’t be mad at Megan, these hoes mad at Megan’s Law,” a line widely interpreted as a jab at Minaj.

“Hiss,” released in January as the opening track of Megan’s latest album, is a fierce display of her lyrical prowess and intensifies the ongoing feud with Nicki Minaj. The song directly responds to Nicki Minaj’s 2023 track “FTCU.” In that track, Minaj referenced the Tory Lanez shooting, rapping, “Stay in your Tory Lanez, bitch, I’m not Iggy.” Megan’s retort in “Hiss” alludes to Megan’s Law. This federal law requires law enforcement to disclose information about registered sex offenders. It’s a clear reference to Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, who is a registered sex offender. The song quickly climbed the charts, debuting at No. 1 on the Hot 100, marking Megan’s third chart-topping hit.

Nicki Minaj didn’t take the diss lightly. She responded with a flurry of over a hundred tweets. Many of them included personal attacks on Megan. She even brought up Megan’s deceased mother. Minaj also released a retaliatory track titled “Big Foot,” further intensifying the feud.

In a recent interview with Billboard, Megan was asked about the surge of competitive energy in rap, which “Hiss” seemed to ignite. She commented, “I would like to think that I start things. I don’t know; I just knew what I had to do and what I had to say.” When questioned about the possibility of reconciling with Nicki Minaj, Megan was candid: “I still to this day don’t know what the problem is.”

Megan also shared her thoughts on the negativity she faces, saying, “If people feel like I’m somebody to aim at, then I must be pretty high up if you’re reaching up at me. That makes me feel good. That makes me feel like I could rap because if I wasn’t the shit, y’all wouldn’t be worried about me.”
