Megan Thee Stallion has gained a new fan in U.S. gymnast Jordan Chiles. Over the weekend, Chiles celebrated her selection for the American squad heading to the Paris Olympics by shouting out to the Houston rapper. “This was for you uncle and Megan, I’m going to the AHH-lympics!” she announced with a beaming smile, using one of Megan’s well-known phrases. Megan replied to the video on X with, “my girllll,” accompanied by four blue heart emojis.
Chiles, who earned a silver medal with Team USA at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, placed behind Simone Biles and Sunisa Lee at the recent team trials. On Wednesday, Chiles posted on her Story that Megan had sent her a bouquet of flowers to congratulate her, writing, “@theestallion I’m literally crying [crying emoji] friend thank you so much these flowers are so beautiful!!” Fans shared screen captures of her post.
In a past interview, Chiles revealed her admiration for Megan’s music, which helped motivate her during the trials. “The whole time while we were getting ready we were vibing, we were listening to music, you know, Megan, Beyoncé, GloRilla. Every girl artist you can think of was popping up,” she said. “And I was like, ‘You know what? If these girls can slay like this, I can go out there and slay like them.”
In June, Chiles posted an Instagram Story showing her first in-person meeting with Megan, after missing the opportunity to meet her at the previous year’s Essence Festival of Culture.
The 2024 Paris Olympics will begin on July 26 and continue until August 11th.
