Megan Thee Stallion has offered fan details about the upcoming video for “Mamushi,” which is a track featured on her MEGAN album. The Houston Hottie jumped on Instagram Live on Friday (July 12), to reveal she is heading to Japan to shoot the music video. “Stream Mamushi and the whole album,” she says in the clip. “And yes, I’m going to Japan to shoot the video, and then I’m coming home.”The song boasts a feature from Japanese rapper and singer Yubi Chiba. “I get money, I’m a star/Star, star, star, star, star, star,” the pair raps. “I get money, I’m a star.” The term Mamushi is related to viper indigenous to Asia, specifically Japan.

“Mamushi” Takes Over Social Media

This falls in line with the project’s snake-inspired theme. The track has received tons of attention online, especially TikTok. On June 28, Megan Thee Stallion released her third studio album, MEGAN. Spanning 18 tracks, the rapper offers a fiery dish of Southern hospitality. The album boasts features from UGK, GloRIlla, Victoria Monet, and more. During an interview in May, the rapper revealed that the project’s snake-inspired vibe comes from her love of reptiles and how they’re often misunderstood. “We started with the snake because, first of all, I love snakes, but I feel like snakes are so misunderstood, especially in Western culture.”

She continues: “Snakes represent rebirth, spirituality. I’m not really a person that’s like, ‘Oh my God, sunshine and just super bubbly, happy.’ I like darker things…I picked the snake because… it’s kind of like an antihero.” Along with her album, the rapper also discussed how she’s been mentally. In 2020, Megan Thee Stallion was involved in an altercation with Tory Lanez, that left her with bullet fragments in her foot. Nearly two years later after a lengthy trial, Lanez was found guilty. The rapper says during that time she didn’t process her feelings correctly.

“I was the type of person who worked through everything. Like, Forget it. I’m going to just go to work. Fill up my schedule. I want to do everything. I don’t even want to think about it.”She continues: “But now I’m like, Well, wait a minute. Let me take my days to myself. I do have boundaries now. The way that I love myself is so different from the way that I did love myself… I’m not doing things to make other people happy. I’m just all about Megan right now, and I love it.
