The wins just keep on coming in for Megan Thee Stallion. The rapper’s “Neva Play” track, which features RM (from BTS), has just reached over 100,000,000 streams on Spotify. “Neva Play” was released in September, and is featured on the rapper’s Act II project. The track’s visual draws heavy inspiration from Megan Thee Stallion’s love of anime. Megan: Act II, which delves deeper into the rapper’s southern roots was released on Oct.25 and has already gained critical acclaim.
Prior to dropping her deluxe version, Megan Thee Stallion released her third studio album Megan: Act I, last June. The album spun several hit singles including “Cobra,” “Hiss,” and “BOA.” Following the album’s release, it debuted at No.3 on the Billboard 200 chart. Throughout the project, the rapper details her meteoric rise to fame, battling mental health issues, and twerking on the haters.
Megan Tells Her Truth With ‘In Her Words’ Documentary
Released on Oct.31 via Amazon Prime In Her Words chronicles Megan Thee Stallion’s early life and meteoric rise to fame. The nearly two-hour doc also details the 2020 shooting incident with Tory Lanez, which left her with bullet fragments in her feet. However, one of the more heartbreaking moments happened when the rapper detailed her mother’s health battles and 2019 death.
While on the red carpet for the movie’s premiere at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, her late mother’s spirit gave her the strength to be vulnerable. “I really feel like I drew a lot of strength from my mom,” she told an MSN reporter. “I know my mama was super outspoken and she was super tough, and I feel like once I found my mom’s voice in myself, I was like, ‘Go out there and tell them people exactly who you are.’ That’s what we’re doing today.”
