The highly anticipated Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul matchup has been postponed due to illness.

According to the New York Post, the boxing legend revealed he is currently grappling with a flared-up ulcer. However, there’s no need for concern! He fully intends to make a comeback to the ring to take on the YouTuber-turned-boxer.

“I want to thank my fans around the world for their support and understanding during this time. Unfortunately, due to my ulcer flareup, I have been advised by my doctor to lighten my training for a few weeks to rest and recover,” the undisputed heavyweight champion said in a statement. “My body is in better overall shape than it has been since the 1990s and I will be back to my full training schedule soon.”

He added: “Jake Paul, this may have bought you some time, but in the end you will still be knocked out and out of boxing for good. I appreciate everyone’s patience and can’t wait to deliver an unforgettable performance later this year.”

Earlier this year, reports surfaced that Iron Mike Tyson (50-6-44KOs) was scheduled to face off against Jake Paul (9-1-6KOs) in a eagerly awaited boxing match slated to stream on Netflix this summer. The announcement, made in March, disclosed that the boxing event on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, would be live-streamed on a platform accessible to all subscribers.

The postponement follows Tyson’s medical emergency during a flight from Miami to sunny Los Angeles on Sunday, May 26, due to the aforementioned flare-up.

Passengers on the flight reported Tyson’s distress, which occurred just minutes before landing. Fortunately, emergency personnel responded promptly, and Tyson has expressed his gratitude for their swift action.

Widely regarded as one of the most formidable boxers in the ring, Tyson holds the distinction of being the youngest boxer to ever claim the WBC, WBA, and IBF world heavyweight titles.

On the other hand, his opponent, relatively new to the ring, swiftly rose to fame by securing victories in his first six fights. Despite experiencing his initial setback in a split-decision loss to Tommy Fury, he rebounded by clinching a victory over Nate Diaz via unanimous decision months later.
