Montell Jordan is getting candid about how he survived his battle with prostate cancer.

The multi-platinum singer says early detection and his faith in God saved his life.

Speaking with TMZ Hip-Hop,  Jordan was adamant about men paying attention to their bodies.

“You wanna catch it before it catches you,” Jordan told the outlet.

While celebrating his 56th birthday on Dec. 3, the “This Is How We Do It” singer shared that he was diagnosed with “early Stage 1” in January.

“Early detection helped save my life,” he wrote in the video message. He also noted that he’s been chronicling his healing journey with hopes of inspiring others.

In the video, he also asked fans to donate to the cause as a birthday gift.

After reviewing “all options” and “praying hard,” Jordan decided to undergo a prostatectomy.  He shared the results of the procedure a month later.

“Once [his prostate was] removed, there was more cancer found in what was removed,” Jordan confessed in the initial video. “It was more aggressive and was undetected. It was more like Stage 2, but they got it all.”

“Jesus saved my soul. Early detection helped save my life. I am now cancer-free,” he added.

Now a pastor, Jordan believes his mission has expanded since his diagnosis and recovery.

“I’m pastoring different people right now. Pastoring is loving people. We’re all in the same story, but we’re in different boats,” he explained. “And they don’t want anyone necessarily knowing what they’re navigating.”

“You can either check or you gon’ get checked. It’s gonna happen either way,” Jordan added. “You can be in control of it though.”

Jordan is not the only high-profile celebrity to go public with his cancer journey. NFL legend Randy Moss revealed that he had successful surgery to beat cancer.

“I’ve told you all over the last couple of weeks about me battling something internally and your boy is a cancer survivor,” Moss said in an Instagram livestream.

“It was a trying week, a trying time. So once again, I thank you all,” he said. “Thank you and your team for nursing me back to health and getting me back here with my family.”
