Mustard admitted that was nervous before he hit the stage during Kendrick Lamar’s “Pop Out ” concert over the summer.

In an interview with Billboard, the multi-platinum producer of “Not Like Us” shared his thoughts about the unforgettable concert and how he almost had a panic attack as the opener of the show.

“I was nervous as shi*t,” Mustard said. “It just didn’t feel real.”

In unprecedented fashion, the concert which was held on Juneteenth at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, was streamed on Prime Video. The Crenshaw native went on to share how a record-setting diss track aimed at Drake unified the West Coast and how he could never anticipate the impact of the song that Kendrick performed five straight times during the show.

“When I was growing up, I watched 2Pac, ‘California Love,’ Dr. Dre, Snoop, the Death Row days,” Mustard recalled “It’s like being a part of that again, but in this day and age.”

Mustard also revealed that he received some wisdom from Timbaland about reinvention in the ever-changing music industry.

“We were talking about the music industry,” he recalls. “He’s just like, ‘I want you to know, man, you’re not going to always be hot.’ ”

As far as his solo work, Mustar released the aptly titled LP  Faith of a Mustard Seed. The album features a star-studded collection of artists including  Travis Scott, Roddy Ricch, Ella Mai(Ty Dolla $ign, Future, and Young Thug.

To cap his year off, Mustard would love for “Not Like Us” to win a Grammy as it is expected to be nominated in several categories.

“I definitely speak it into existence every morning,” he says with a laugh. “The highest reward we can get as musicians is a Grammy. I know that people talk like it’s not a thing, but it actually is. It’s like Jayson Tatum right now saying, ‘I don’t want to win the NBA Finals.’ Like, if that’s the case, then go play at Venice Beach.”
