Shaggy hosted his second annual Island Music Conference from Wednesday, Feb 21 to Sunday, Feb. 25 in Kingston, Jamaica.
Dozens of people from all over the world attended the five-day event filled with panel discussions, presentations, workshops, performances, parties, and networking opportunities. Industry executives from companies like Meta, YouTube, Warner Records, United Masters, and Grammy were brought together as they provided insight into a load of crucial global music topics including branding strategies, artist management, digital music marketing, money management, contracts, fashion, and more.
“I think this is an opportunity for us to really just kind of sit, meet, and greet with each other, network with each other, and kind of figure out how we can monetize our own culture,” the “Boombastic” hitmaker said during his keynote address.
Mya, Kes, Teejay, Wyclef Jean, Sean Paul, Jesse Royal, Stonebwoy, Spice, and Masicka were some of the artists in attendance. Many of them blessed the audience with advice, knowledge and experiences with navigating their careers.
The conference also held an intimate concert hosted by Shaggy and Wyclef. Kemar Highcon, Yohan Marley, Jahshii, Quan Dajai Henriques, and Stonebwoy were among the many performers that graced the stage. See related posts below.
