Netflix reportedly removed Chris Rock’s joke about Will Smith in his new ‘Selective Outrage’ comedy special.
We previously reported that Chris Rock had some choice words for Will Smith and his family. He joked that Will Smith’s anger was misplaced. “Nobody was picking on her. She said, me, a grown-a*s man, should quit his job (as 2016 Oscars host) because her husband didn’t get nominated for ‘Concussion,’” a 2015 movie. “Then he gave me a concussion.”
He continued: “I love Will Smith … he’s made some great movies. I have rooted for Will Smith my whole life. And now I watch ‘Emancipation’ just to see him get whooped. Got me rooting for massa: ‘Hit ’em again!’”
Netflix has since removed that part out of the comedy special, according to reports. The streaming service has yet to address the reason they removed it.
Sources for Will Smith stated that Smith is reportedly “hurt and embarrassed by what Chris said about him and his family in his Netflix special.”
The source also explains, “Will is also upset that Netflix was a part of this and thinks Chris insulting Jada again is below the belt,” the source added. “He is upset that Netflix gave Chris this platform to share these messages and thinks it’s distasteful.”
