A concerning trend has emerged at music concerts: fans throwing items onto the stage while artists perform. Nicki Minaj experienced this firsthand during her Pink Friday 2 World Tour stop in Detroit on Saturday, April 20th with a bracelet .
Amid her performance of “Starships,” Minaj noticed a bracelet flying towards her from the audience. Displaying agility similar to an NFL cornerback, she deftly swatted the accessory away. Irked by the disruption, Minaj picked up the bracelet, winded up like a baseball pitcher, and launched the bracelet back into the crowd.
Despite the incident, Minaj didn’t let it overshadow her enjoyment of the concert. She took to X afterwards, asking fans about their favorite moments from the show and praising their energetic and vibrant presence.
Meanwhile, this behavior isn’t unique to Minaj. Drake, among other rappers, has also encountered similar disruptions. During a Detroit show on his It’s All A Blur Tour last year, women tossed bras and other items onto the stage.
“This is not what we wanna see, a big-a– shoe. This what I need you to do, Detroit, this what I need you to do, please, for me. I’m so grateful to be back in this building with you after all this time that we had to sit in the crib, right,” he humorously remarked. “Please stop throwing bras up here, I can’t — I feel like I’m on clean-up duty tonight … T–ty clean-up duty. This is crazy.”
