Nicki Minaj is gearing up to release a new project. Reports indicate that on Friday (Nov. 8), the rapper announced that to mark the one-year milestone of Pink Friday 2, she will release Pink Friday 2 – The Hiatus on December 13. While Pink Friday 3 had been in the works, Minaj is taking a fresh approach, using this final deluxe edition to wrap up the PF2 chapter.
In a statement on X, she said, “Pink Friday 2 – The Hiatus The final deluxe installment On the 1 year Anniversary of PF2 12.13.24.” Fans were split in their response. On one hand, the Barbz celebrated the news of new music; on the other, some worried that the “hiatus” hinted at a long break from Minaj in 2025. One fan commented, “IS THIS A DELUXE OR A HIATUS IM CONFUSED-,” with another stating, “Wait I skipped the hiatus word…. Idk how to feel now.”
Nicki Minaj Shifts Focus from Deluxe to New Album Amid Historic Tour
Minaj had initially planned to release Pink Friday 2: Gag City Reloaded in September to coincide with the U.S. leg of her record-setting Pink Friday 2 World Tour, but shifted gears toward Pink Friday 3 instead. She took to X and said, “Instead of doing a DELUXE to Pink Friday 2, I’ve decided to do a brand new album. I’ll still incorporate new songs like #Mamita & [The ‘anxiety’ song] for the remainder of the tour tho…and I’ll announce the new date within the next couple weeks.” “The new music is just too good to be thrown away on a deluxe album. Last night, the songs I recorded were just way too iconic. I love you guys so much. You know that. I know you do. I’ll still give you something leading up to the announcement, so no worries.”
It’s still unclear whether Pink Friday 3 will be the next step in Nicki Minaj’s musical journey or if the release of The Hiatus deluxe edition has taken over that spot. Minaj concluded the second leg of her North American tour in October, a milestone that’s already etched her name in history as the woman behind the highest-grossing and bestselling rap tour in Boxscore’s record books.
