It’s been nearly 25 years since Notorious B.I.G. ‘s death, and his impact continues to reverberate today. The American Museum of Natural History continues to build on his legacy by creating an exhibit to highlight how he and other Hip-Hop artists have impacted fashion and culture.
Entitled Ice Cold: An Exhibition of Hip-Hop Jewelry, the one-of-a-kind display will be opening to the public later this May. The unique exhibit will not only feature jewelry previously worn by the late Brookly rapper, but A$AP Rocky, Nicki Minaj, Slick Rick, Erykah Badu, and Tyler, The Creator as well.
“Hip-hop jewelry has had a huge impact on our wider modern culture,” museum president Sean M. Decatur said in a recent statement. “These jewelry pieces are not just magnificent in and of themselves, they’re an important part of hip-hop history and hip-hop culture as artists claimed and transformed traditional symbols of luxury and success.”
