This is horrible.
An explosion at a Bronx apartment building caused a massive fire and a partial building collapse.
The incident happened today (January 18) at approximately 11:00 a.m. CBS reports an 82-year-old died, and seven people were injured. Another news source reports a 77-year-old woman was dead.
Eyewitnesses told News 4 they heard at least two explosions, followed by flames. Some initially thought it was snowing until they realized it was ash from the fire coming down instead.
FDNY confirmed a major emergency response. The explosion was initially thought to be gas-related, but Con Ed said it had no indication that was the case, CBS reports. Story developing..
