Hot 97’s Peter Rosenberg has expressed deep disappointment in Drake, criticizing not only the rapper’s recent actions but also the advice he seems to be receiving from his team.
Rosenberg, speaking on TMZ Live with Harvey Levin and Charles Latibeaudiere, reacted strongly to Drake’s defamation lawsuit over Kendrick Lamar’s controversial lyrics in “Not Like Us,” which included allegations of being a “private pedo.”
“It’s not playing well, Rosenberg says. “Even though I’m known as like a big Kendrick guy, you know, always been a huge supporter, I kind of crowned him, the goat, you know, over a decade ago, and um, at times I was being hyperbolic, and then at times it’s just completely true. He just has been that great. I’m not even enjoying this like this sort of Pyon is not particularly fun, and the weird thing is I don’t know who Drake’s talking to like I just don’t know who’s making the suggestions going all.”
Rosenberg finds Drake’s recent behavior increasingly erratic, citing the controversial use of AI-generated vocals in a Tupac track and his public provocation of Kendrick Lamar. He believes Drake is struggling to regain his footing after losing the lyrical battle that started with NLU.
The Ebro In The Morning co-host questioned why Drake didn’t file the lawsuit earlier, suggesting he should have acted when the track was first released rather than after public sentiment shifted against him.
Rosenberg recognizes that Drake may have a valid defamation claim but questions how he’s handling the situation. He also suggested that Drake might have used bots to boost his streaming numbers, which is central to the legal dispute. However, Rosenberg defended Kendrick Lamar, stating that Lamar has never needed artificial means to support his artistry.
Peter Rosenberg’s comments highlight concerns about Drake’s recent choices, which are overshadowing his talent due to missteps in strategy and public relations. It is unclear whether this legal battle will help or damage Drake’s reputation further.
