On Nov.14, Pharrell Williams arrived at GQ Magzine’s annual ‘Man Of The Year’ Party ready to rub shoulders with the stars. This year, the popular men’s magazine hosted its soiree in Los Angeles, CA. The hitmaking producer is known for his eccentric style and arrived with a sleek, black fringe leather jacket. However, a group of animal rights protesters had no time for it. The protestors accosted Pharrell for arriving at the event with a leather jacket. “What you’re doing is wrong!” one protester shouts at Williams.
While Pharrell appears to come in peace and even asks for a hug, the protesters could’ve cared less. The group continued to yell and shout at him, saying he should be “ashamed” for his choice of dress. After several minutes of trying to reason with the protestors, Pharrell was escorted to his car by security.
The Clipse tap Pharrell for upcoming album
On the music front, Pharrell is teaming up with The Clipse to produce the duo’s first album in 15 years. Group members, Pusha T and Malice confirmed the news in June while attending Pharrell’s Louis Vuitton runway show. “I think the album shows the supreme maturation of a rap duo. I think this is where you get the difference between taste and filler. This music is curated. This is a high taste-level piece of work. You can only have that level of taste when you have the fundamentals down to a science. I think it’s been definitely missing. Then there’s the competitive aspect.”
Malice noted that the pair’s next project is about the importance of “growth” in one’s life. “It’s bringing the fans along to see the growth, not trying to fit in or fabricate. It just seems like in other genres of music, they have the luxury of growing. For some reason, we act like were not supposed to evolve. This is what the true evolution of the Clipse looks like. It’s just good to be able to show that and still have high-level raps.”
