Pharrell has hit the pause button on his Something In The Water festival—a three-day celebration bursting with music and culture.
Taking to Instagram on Friday (September 13), the multi-hyphenate penned a love letter to his home state of Virginia, letting fans know they’ll have to hang tight a little longer for all the festival vibes. But something tells us it’ll be worth it.
“Dearest Virginia,” he begins. “I love you with all my heart. Nobody loves you more than I do. Virginia doesn’t deserve better, Virginia deserves THE BEST. So SOMETHING IN THE WATER has to match that. It just isn’t ready yet. That’s why we as a team have decided we must postone this year’s SOMETHING IN THE WATER festival that was due to take place in October.”
He adds, “This is not a Pharrell festival, this is the state of Virginia’s festival so it has to be the best. Virginia made me, and I want to honor it with as much love as it’s shown me my entire life. And you know me, everywhere I go it’s VA.”
Pharrell expressed gratitude to festival-goers who have already purchased tickets, saying “thank you” and noting that payments made via debit or credit card will be automatically refunded. Those who paid cash can get their refunds at the Veterans United Home Loan Amphitheater box office. Further, “fans who bought passes for this year’s event will have first access to purchase once the new dates are announced.”
In closing, Pharrell emphasized his deep appreciation, writing, “I am so grateful to our amazing sponsors and the city for their continued support and trust in us to get this right, and that time is April 2025. This has to be EPIC, and trust me, after this long wait, it will be. Thank you for your support, love, and understanding.” He signed off with a hopeful message, “Until April.”
“Dearest Virginia, you deserve THE BEST. I promise it will be worth the wait. See you in April. All my love – P,” he captioned the post.
