Playboi Carti has made a splash with his first solo single in four years, “All Red,” but the excitement quickly turned to disappointment among his fans. The Atlanta rapper, who had been building anticipation for his birthday on September 12th, teased a big reveal that led fans to believe his long-awaited third studio album, MUSIC, would be dropping soon.

In recent weeks, Carti had ramped up his social media presence with cryptic posts and hints, leading many to expect a big album announcement. Fans were eager and hopeful as the date approached, believing that Carti was finally ready to deliver new music.

Instead of the album, Carti revealed a new venture: a series of box sets available for pre-order. These box sets come with various pieces of merchandise but offered no specifics on the album release date. The only clue provided was a vague promise on Carti’s website: “Album release date to be announced. Digital album will be available near the release date, no later than six months from April 18th, 2025.”

The reveal was met with frustration and disappointment from fans. Even though Carti dropped the new track “All Red” on the same day, it didn’t appease many who were expecting more. Reactions on social media were particularly harsh. “Im blocking you bro,” one fan said on Instagram, while another simply remarked, “N**** gave us merch.”

Adding to the discontent, Carti had previously posted images of himself in NBA jerseys, which fans speculated might be connected to the album’s release or potential features. After the box sets announcement, fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to express their dissatisfaction, marking a stark contrast between their high hopes and the reality of Carti’s latest update.
