Most people spend birthdays surrounded by friends and family, unfortunately for Playboi Carti he was with the New York City police— the rapper (real name Jordan Carter), was hosting an impromptu birthday pop-up in Crown Heights for his fans before police officials shut it down. It’s been reported that the venue — a warehouse in Brooklyn— was over its 3,000 capacity. While Sept. 13 marked the rapper’s 29th journey around the sun, his birthday luck must have ran out.

After the warehouse was evacuated, Playboi Carti hopped on Instagram Stories to vent his frustration: “NYPD SHUT ME DOWN I TRIED SOOO HARD TO CELEBRATE WITH YOU TONIGHT THE MUSIC WAS ABOUT TO BE INSANE I WAS OUTSIDE THE WHOLE TIME THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD LOCK ME UP IF I GOT OUT THE CAR ITS MY FUCKIN BIRYHDAY WTF.”

PlayBoi Carti Upsets FANS AFTER DEBUTING BOX SETS

On the music front, while Playboi Carti’s fans’ loyalty never wavers, his latest stunt might have muddied the waters. After teasing a big reveal (which some hoped might be a new album), fans were ultimately disappointed with the result. His highly-anticipated third studio album, MUSIC was rumored to be dropping soon. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case. Instead of the album, Carti revealed a new venture: a series of box sets available for pre-order.

These box sets come with various pieces of merchandise but offered no specifics on the album release date. The only clue provided was a vague promise on Carti’s website: “Album release date to be announced. Digital album will be available near the release date, no later than six months from April 18th, 2025.” The reveal was met with frustration and disappointment from fans. Even though Carti dropped the new track “All Red” on the same day, it didn’t appease many who were expecting more. Reactions on social media were particularly harsh. “Im blocking you bro,” one fan said on Instagram, while another simply remarked, “N**** gave us merch.”
