Plies shared his thoughts about Target abandoning its diversity, fairness, and inclusion initiatives in a recent social media post. The post follows a statement from the company, released on Friday (Jan. 24), where Target’s Chief Community Impact and Equity Officer, Kiera Fernandez, said the company is entering a “new chapter.”
“As a retailer that serves millions of consumers every day, we understand the importance of staying in step with the evolving external landscape, now and in the future,” the statement continues. In the “Shawty” rapper’s opinion, the company has gotten on the “crazy train.” Plies infers that since the company is “evolving,” he’s doing that same and will refrain from spending any of his “big-faced hundreds” at their stores.
“You can’t get no more of this muthaf*ckin money from me,” he says. On the other hand, Plies did admit, before the news, that he was a fan of the company and frequented its store locations often. However, he takes a satirical twist on the company’s slogan, “Expect More. Pay less,” saying he “expected more” and will be paying the company “less.”
Plies has always been vocal when it comes to his opinion. The rapper recently addressed the short-lived TikTok ban, calling it “bullsh*t.” In his opinion, the decision was never about “privacy,” but just a ploy to make Trump appear as the savior. “Dear Tik Tok Y’all Ain’t Fooling Nobody With This Bullsh*t Azz Shutdown! Y’all Caught Up In The Circus Too, U Trolling Now Like Everybody Else,” he wrote in the post. “Y’all Will Be Back Up After The Inauguration! Gotta Make It Look Heroic! Y’all Know What He Want Give Him A Check He’ll Let Y’all Slide!”
