It was announced on Thursday, February 8, that Post Malone made history as his 2018 hit, “Sunflower (Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse), ” with GRAMMY Award-nominated artist/songwriter Swae Lee, became “the first-ever RIAA Double-Diamond single. “
Diamond certification requires a single to sell over 10 million copies. With Post Malone and Swae Lee’s first-ever accomplishment, the music industry is excited for what lies ahead.
“Post Malone and Swae Lee have officially raised the bar on what creative partnerships and infectious collaborations have the power to accomplish,” said RIAA Chairman and CEO Mitch Glazier. “Sunflower (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse)’ has now been streamed or downloaded more than 20 million times in the U.S. alone, and they’ve earned the custom hardware to prove it. Congratulations Post, Swae Lee and Mercury/Republic Records for making history with the very first 2x Diamond single!”
A 20x Platinum certification makes it the most certified track of all time. Post Malone has also recently been honored with the Singers Hall of Fame’s “Hal Davis Starlight Award,” a GRAMMY® Award-nominated, 8x RIAA Diamond-certified artist.
Swae Lee is set to perform alongside his brother Slim Jxmmi as Rae Sremmurd at Rolling Loud: Los Angeles this March.
