According to Variety and series star Joseph Sikora, the Power Universe announced on Thursday (June 13) that the upcoming third season will be the final season for Power Book 4: Force. The news follows the 50 Cent-driven franchise celebrating its 10th anniversary.
It was announced earlier this year that season 4 of Power Book 2: Ghost would be the series finale, so Power Book 4: Force is the second canceled Power Universe series. Sikora shared with fans that the upcoming third season will tell a complete story in the final chapter.
“When Gary Lennon and the other writers and I were mapping out our third season, we saw that we were telling a complete story, and this was the perfect opportunity to stay true to our artistic vision and make this the final chapter in Tommy’s journey in Chicago,” explained Sikora on Instagram. “We’re just getting warmed up, and I can’t wait to show you what we have planned next.”
He ended his video with a hint of more to come, saying the franchise motto, “Ghosts never die, and power never ends.”
The series’ conclusion received sober reactions, but Sikora hinted at a possible new project within the “Power” universe that will bring back the character. Starz announced, in March, Power: Origins, a spin-off series that follows Ghost and Tommy’s early days.
Showrunner Gary Lennon followed Sikora video with a statement where he calls the conclusion of “Force” bittersweet. It reads:
“It is bittersweet to write the fulfilling ending of this chapter in Tommy’s journey, a character myself and fans have grown to love over the past decade. Season 3 will question everything we thought we knew of Tommy’s world, and I promise you it will not disappoint! Although this may be the end of the road for ‘Force,’ there is much more expansive, compelling storytelling for the characters within the Power Universe.”
Power Book IV: Force was renewed for its third season in December, shortly after the conclusion of Season 2. The series is one of Starz’s most-watched.
The show’s executive producers include Gary Lennon, franchise creator Courtney A. Kemp for End of Episode, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson through G-Unit Film and Television, Mark Canton through Atmosphere Entertainment MM, Terri Kopp, and Chris Selak. Lionsgate serves as the studio.
