Pusha T has assured fans that a new Clipse album is ready but there is no release date.
In an interview with AllHipHop at the VIP premiere of Pharrell’s new film Piece By Piece, Pusha gave an official update on the project.
“The album’s done. So, the album’s done, we just [handling] all the logistics right now. It’s ready. So, as soon as it’s ready, y’all getting it. That’s it,” Pusha said.
“It’s time,” No Malice added “It’s time. The album is ready. The album is right. I feel it’s something that hip-hop has been missing. And we got it, so we ready.”
After debuting a new track featuring John Legend at Pharrell’s Louis Vuitton runway show, fans of the group are excited to hear more music from the duo.
Shortly thereafter, the Virginia rappers shared that a reunion album was on the way and Pharrell handling the production.
“I think the album shows the supreme maturation of a rap duo,” Pusha T said. “I think this is where you get the difference between taste and filler. This music is curated. This is a high taste-level piece of work. You can only have that level of taste when you have the fundamentals down to a science. I think it’s been definitely missing. Then there’s the competitive aspect.”
No Malice noted that the new project will show the group’s maturity after a 15-year hiatus.
“It’s bringing the fans along to see the growth, not trying to fit in or fabricate,” said Malice. “It just seems like in other genres of music, they have the luxury of growing. For some reason, we act like were not supposed to evolve. This is what the true evolution of the Clipse looks like. It’s just good to be able to show that and still have high-level raps.”
Armed with an impressive catalog, the Clipse dropped their classic album their classic debut album, Lord Willin’ in 2002. They followed up with their acclaimed sophomore album Hell Hath No Fury in 2006.
In 2009, they released Til The Casket Drops before pursuing solo careers.
The Clipse reunited in 2021 on Ye’s Donda album.
