It has been sadly reported that Congressman Elijah Cummings has passed away at age 68 from health complications.
Cummings led various investigations in reference to Donald Trump, and served as a critical part of Trump’s impeachment inquiry.
Not only was Cummings actively working on creating change in the United States of America until his last breath, he was one of the most powerful committee chairmen in the U.S. House.
His wife, Maya Rockeymoore Cummings released a statement saying: “Congressman Cummings was an honorable man who proudly served his district and the nation with dignity, integrity, compassion, and humility…He worked until his last breath because he believed our democracy was the highest and best expression of our collective humanity and that our nation’s diversity was our promise, not our problem. It’s been an honor to walk by his side on this incredible journey. I loved him deeply and will miss him dearly.”
We’re sending the Cummings family love during this time!
Take a look at what other political figures had to say:
We lost a giant today. Congressman Elijah Cummings was a fearless leader, a protector of democracy, and a fighter for the people of Maryland. Our world is dimmer without him in it.
