Things are getting very ugly for R. Kelly.
In the latest preview of Lifetime’s docuseries Surviving R. Kelly, backup singer Jovante Cunningham looked back at a time where she saw the singer allegedly having relations with a 15-year-old Aaliyah
According to PEOPLE, the first episode will revolve around some of the things she witnessed on Kelly’s tour bus while she worked with him in the 1990’s.
“We were out on the road with Aaliyah,” she said on camera for the trailer. “On a tour bus, there really aren’t many confined spaces. When you get on the bus there are bunks and so these bunks have little curtains you can pull at night if you don’t want anybody to see you sleeping. So it just so happened we were all laying in our bunks and the curtains are open, everybody’s communicating, laughing. When the [room] door flew open on the bus, Robert was having sex with Aaliyah.”
It has been rumored for years about R. Kelly’s alleged relationship with Aaliyah including a possible secret marriage when she was only 15-years-old.
The series will show multiple people describe their experiences with R. Kelly throughout the years, including those who have been part of his alleged sex ring, his ex-wife and more.
Surviving R. Kelly will air on Lifetime on January 2, at 9PM EST.
