The estate of Rich Homie Quan released his 35-track posthumous album, Forever Going In, on October 4, his 35th birthday.
“Dropping at midnight! 34 songs listed,” a post from his official account, including album cover art and tracklist announced on Thursday (October 3). “Ironically, that’s the age I passed away. Bonus: one extra song because tomorrow will forever be a celebration! My gift to my fans.”
Guest appearances include 2 Chainz, Lil Tjay, Skilla Baby, Sukihana, Plies, Quicktrip, Duoo, and VVS. The album cover is a nostalgic photo of Rich Homie Quan wearing a crown, homage to Quan’s 2014 release of the same name. Above the album title reads, “I promise I will never stop going in.”
Rich Homie Quan’s death in September took hip-hop by surprise as condolences poured in from the genre’s big names. Killer Mike delivered a heartfelt speech at Quan’s funeral. “Song Cry,” the first track released after his passing on September 17, will not appear on the new album.
Quan’s death was ruled an accidental overdose by Fulton County Medical Examiners. In Hip-Hop, Rich Homie Quan trailblazed a new sound for Atlanta in the mid-2010s with classics such as “Type of Way,” “Walk Through,” “Lifestyle,” and “Mamacita” featuring Young Thug and Travis Scott. Sexyy Red, Metro Boomin’, Bow Wow, and the cast of Wild N’ Out were among many hip-hop stars who paid tribute to Quan’s memory while on tour.
His family released a statement with People: “While his loss leaves an undeniable hole in our hearts, we are comforted by knowing his music and triumphant spirit live on. Rich Homie Quan’s legacy will forever be cemented as a soundtrack to our lives. For this, we are grateful. Details for his celebration of life will be shared soon.
