Rich Homie Quan passed away from a drug overdose, with the cause of death revealed as an accidental overdose, according to a TMZ report. The Fulton County Medical Examiner in Georgia ruled his death an accident after several substances, including fentanyl, alprazolam, codeine, and promethazine, were found in the rapper’s system. When police discovered his body, there were no signs of trauma.

Speculation about a drug-related death had circulated after his friend, Boosie Badazz, posted on X, saying, “JUST GOT WORD @RichHomieQuan JUST OD ‼️.” A previously released 911 call captured Quan’s girlfriend, Amber Williams, telling dispatchers that she “didn’t feel a heartbeat” and that he was unconscious. She tearfully shared, “When I turned him over, he kind of foamed at the mouth.” Quan was pronounced dead at the scene after paramedics arrived. The rapper passed away on September 5th at 34 years old.

According to Williams, Quan was sleeping on the couch before she took her son to school. When she returned, she found him cold and unresponsive, prompting her to call 911. The police report confirmed there was no foul play, and Williams stated Quan had no known medical conditions.

Tributes poured in on social media following the news. Adam22 shared a picture with Quan, captioning it “RIP Rich Homie Quan,” while Lil’ Kim wrote, “I’m so heartbroken. No one ever understood the dope ass friendship u and I had.”

Quan had been open about his struggles with addiction, once admitting on a podcast that he took Molly daily. Despite previously stating he wouldn’t “go out like that,” his cause of death was revealed as an accidental overdose. It involved fentanyl and other substances. In his final days, Quan shared cryptic posts hinting at personal struggles. His estate recently released the music video for his posthumous song “Song Cry.” The video features footage from his funeral service, which was held on September 17th.
