Rod Wave faced quite the predicament this week, after he was arrested in Florida for alleged possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
According to TMZ, the rapper/singer was booked into Manatee County Jail on Wednesday (April 3) on two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. However, according to his team, not only do they allege RW is not a convicted felon but the arresting officers made a huge misstep in the process.
“The officers that made the arrest are incorrect. He is not a convicted felon and has never been a convicted felon. We would have hoped additional research would have been done prior to them filing these charges,” attorneys, Bradford Cohen and Mark Rankin told the outlet.
“As with any case we will hold those parties that made the error accountable for their actions,” they added.
In a rapid turn of events, the team representing the “Fight The Feeling” rapper took to social media to update fans, disclosing that the 25-year-old had been released.
“Myself and @mprankin74 represent Rod and below is our statement,” Ronin begins.
“Rod was arrested and detained with absolutely no evidence of wrongdoing. The police claimed he was a felon in possession of ammunition.
“Not only was he not in possession of ammunition, a basic check of public records would have easily demonstrated to the police that he was not a convicted felon. The prosecutor and the judge immediately agreed that the evidence did not support the charge and set him free the same day. @mprankin74”
“Glad he out,” wrote one fan in response to the news. “Big Goat [goat emoji],” a second comment reads, praising RW’s legal team.
Meanwhile, Rod Wave has yet to address the arrest.
