Back in 2015, Houston rapper Sauce Walka had some serious beef with Drake, mainly over the Toronto star’s Houston Appreciation Weekend. Sauce felt that Drake was capitalizing on Houston’s culture without truly giving back to the city’s artists. He didn’t hold back, calling out Drake for, in his words, “using our culture for lyrical content, and ain’t giving s*** back but a family fun day and some money to some hes he tricking on in the club. This b-a n**** make music with artists from everywhere but Houston.” The situation escalated to the point where Sauce released a diss track titled “Wack 2 Wack,” rapping over Drake’s “Back To Back” instrumental.

The tension between the two seemed to ease earlier this year when they were seen chatting at Area 29, a Houston strip club, hinting that they had put their differences aside. However, recent comments from Sauce have brought those old issues back into the spotlight, raising questions about whether the peace between them will last. DJ Akademiks shared a clip where Sauce once again criticized Drake for not collaborating with Houston artists, despite his claims of supporting the city’s rap culture.

Sauce points out that while Drake has worked with big Houston names like Travis Scott, Bun B, Pimp C, and Beyoncé, he hasn’t done much to help lesser-known artists in the city. Sauce believes that if Drake were to support these up-and-coming talents, it could lead to major music festivals like Rolling Loud coming to Houston. Although Sauce’s recent comments might just be a reflection of past frustrations, it will be interesting to see if this reignites their past conflict.
