Lil Nas X is facing criticism from one of his inspirations, Sega Bodega, over the visuals for his upcoming project Dreamboy. On November 13th, Nas X shared an image to promote Dreamboy on X, which depicted him sitting at a desktop computer in a wood-paneled room with a figure bathed in white light behind him. He also posted a reference for the image on his Instagram story, revealing that it was inspired by the cover art for Sega Bodega’s 2021 track “Angel on my Shoulder,” which features a similar scene.

Sega Bodega responded to the situation on his X account, expressing his frustration, saying, “Not even trying to put a spin on it is where I’m like yeesh.” He then took issue with fans who criticized him for not being grateful that Nas X had mentioned his cover art on Instagram. Sega fired back, “Can’t tell if this is a very good joke or not cause that’s literally what he did ahahah there is no credit.” He continued, pointing out, “Look he did credit you in a photo that will disappear in 24 hours forever and no name whatsoever of artist or photographer! Be grateful! You lot sound insane.”

As of now, Lil Nas X has not responded to Sega’s posts. However, the rapper recently addressed another critic, Azealia Banks, who took to X to claim that Nas X had “fallen off” and had “NO BARS.” Nas X replied in a now-deleted message, stating, “I could never make a hit song again and you would still never in your bussy soap selling chicken sacrificing botched body hating ass miserable life ever reach a 10th of my success. Love your music btw.”
