Serena Williams has denied allegations that she bleached her skin after a video went viral, causing fans to speculate that her complexion looked lighter.
During an Instagram Live session, Williams addressed the rumors directly. “For all the haters out there, I do not bleach my skin,” she said. “There’s something called sunlight, and in different lighting, you get different shades.”
“I’m a dark black woman, and I love who I am, and I love how I look, and that’s just not my thing. And if people do it that’s their thing and they have every opportunity and they should” she continued.
“I don’t judge, but you guys do. But that’s what this world is about and I stay in my lane, the non-judgy one…but no I actually don’t bleach my skin. So, can we just kinda clear that up,” the tennis player explained.
Alexis Ohanian Health scare:
Serena Williams’ husband, Alexis Ohanian, is recovering from thyroid surgery following a cancer scare.
Ohanian revealed that he had half of his thyroid removed due to “suspicious nodules.” He explained that, given his family’s history of cancer-related deaths, he didn’t want to take any chances with his health.
“I wasn’t gonna take any chances; the surgery was smooth and I’m extra grateful this Thanksgiving because I got the call this morning that my now-removed-half-of-thyroid was indeed full of some gnarly nodules that were very likely to become cancerous,” Alexis wrote. “The worst part tbh has been not being able to lift for 2 weeks but big fella will be back at it next week and I took my girls to Disney World this week so life is wonderful.”
