One of hip hop’s classic movies Set It Off is going to the live stage!
The film was originally released in theaters on November 6, 1996, and starred Queen Latifah, Vivica A. Fox, Jada Pinkett Smith and Kimberly Elise.
The stage adaptation of the movie is written, directed and produced by Je’Caryous Johnson who also brought hit plays such as Married But Single and Two Can Play That Game.
“Without a doubt, this will be one of the greatest stage plays ever seen in the urban theatre market,” Johnson said. “From the type of action to the movement on stage, it will be nothing short of jaw dropping. This will be the first piece of my career that will stretch me to the limits of what can be done and seen by our urban audience. I will be recreating the same intensity, same passion and same shock and awe, breathtaking moments that made this movie resonate with millions of people.”
Da Brat, LeToya Luckett, Demetria McKinney, and Kyla Pratt are all starring in the star-studded play!
Watch the much anticipated stage adaptation of the class movie as they come to the Kings Theatre, 1027 Flatbush Ave., Brooklyn, New York on April 28, 2018 for two showings 3:30PM and 8PM, and again on Sunday, April 29, at 3:30PM.
