Shannon Sharpe, an ESPN sports analyst and podcaster, went viral on Wednesday afternoon after a video of him performing a sexual act was streamed during an Instagram Live session. To clear up the incident, Sharpe, 56, hosted a special episode of Nightcap with co-host Ocho Cinco, but not before hip-hop shared its reactions.
Before the clarification, the Hall of Fame football star claimed his social media account was hacked and his team was investigating. As the podcast began, Sharpe clarified that the hack claim was false and that he accidentally streamed the activity.
“I came in, I threw my phone on the bed, engaged in an activity,” he explained. “I did not know IG Live. I’ve never been on IG Live, I’ve never turned IG Live on, so I don’t know how it works.”
Aside from their voices, Sharpe and his partner do not appear in the video. He revealed that his assistant, who has access to his account, shut down the livestream. A one-and-a-half-minute clip and a four-minute clip circulated on social media.
When Sharpe was informed of what occurred, he felt embarrassed. “My heart sank,” Sharpe told the co-host. “I called my agent, I called the agency, I called ESPN and I [thought] just tell them the truth. My phone wasn’t hacked, it wasn’t a prank, it was me being a healthy, active male.”
He added: “Obviously, I’m embarrassed. [I’m] someone that is extremely, extremely private and to have one of your most intimate details be audio heard for the entire world to hear, I’m embarrassed.”
During the conversation, Sharpe would address the calls he received from celebrities after the audio went viral. Former Club Shay Shay guest Katt Williams called him with a few jokes. Ocho Cinco joined in with the jokes, telling Sharpe to prepare for the number of women pursuing him to experience the same intimate experience.
Hip-hop would comment on Sharpe’s activities and credit the accident to his old age. Snoop Dogg shared his reaction on social media, captioned, “What’s understood don’t need to be explained. U beat it up…”
Gillie Da Kid would poke fun at the duration of the clip. “Man, Unc was in the p*ssy for a minute and 30 seconds,” he said while mocking Sharpe’s moaning.
Out to sea, Rick Ross would forgive Sharpe and credit it to old age. Talking to fans, Rozay said, “We forgive you cuz we know you old n##### don’t know how to work that technology. You was vibing with your little shone last night. You were trying to film it and when you tried to sit that muthafucka down on that little dresser, that muthafucka went live.”
ESPN or other partners have not yet commented on the streamed sex act.
